Application Instructions

Comfortably secure the Compression Wrap around the midfoot or arch area.

Wrap the T strap around the affected toe with the elastic tail on the bottom, pointed inward toward the foot.

Pull the elastic strap toward the compression wrap and securely attach with velcro.

The T strap may be adjusted as needed for both length and width. Remove the velcro tab that is secured to the toe portion of the strap, trim the length and width of the strap to fit your toe, and then reattach the velcro tab.

What is causing my pain?

Dorsal drift is often a result of a partial tear in the plantar plate, a ligament type structure that attaches each toe to the metatarsal heads at the bottom of the foot. The plantar plate is designed to protect the bottom of the foot from too much pressure and prevent over extension of the toes. If this structure tears, your toe may start to buckle upward, commonly known as Hammertoe or floating toe.

How does the strap help?

The Osteotomy Strap helps mimic the function of the plantar plate, keeping your toe secured and relieving pressure from the ligament so it can heal.

The strap prevents dorsal drift by holding the toe in a neutral or plantar-flexed position. It can be worn inside of a walking boot, post-op shoe or normal footwear.

Useful after surgery?

Yes! Using the Weil Osteotomy strap after dorsal surgery can have a significant impact on recovery, allowing the tendon time to heal and firmly attach to the bone before putting too much tension on it.
